magisternihil's 100-word story for November 7, 2025

magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on November 7, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

The errant words danced in his head, longing for release, to claim solidity and take permanent shape, their purpose defined. Once they reached the level of cacophonous screams he had no choice, indifferent to day or night, to succumb to their demands and release them, gleeful and swirling, onto the page, squiggles and dots achieving their blissful freedom. He stared at them, smoke curling around his head, the dim lights of the moon his only illumination, and willed them to remain, if for no other reason than he was desperate to answer the sultry song of sleep calling from bed.
