JKWriter's 100-word story for November 11, 2025

JKWriter wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on November 11, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

She could still see him...standing on that peak with his arms out. The look on his face would sit in her memories, always...she was sure of it. There had been other hikers that day, but not many. Why would there be? It was in the middle of the week in the morning. Sometimes she wished he had screamed or said something...anything...but it was the silence. The resolute silence of a man who was at peace with his decision. It was a week later that she'd found out it was terminal cancer. What a way to go.
