magisternihil's 100-word story for November 12, 2025
magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on November 12, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.
Every night, for reasons inexplicable to anyone who observed, the seventh car on the North Line remained empty, passengers unconsciously avoiding the open doors and moving to the next car forward or back. It only happened between two and three in the morning, and then, as if a veil had been lifted, the car fell into use again. If anyone boarded during, sat in one of the smelly, uncomfortable seats, they would have heard the whispers, the songs. Long dead voices raised in chorus for just one hour in twenty-four, stories told as the cacophony of the train provided accompaniment.
