JKWriter's 100-word story for November 18, 2025

JKWriter wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on November 18, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

Bright colors...up and down...music and horses swirling all around...to most this was fun but to a girl like her it was a sensorial nightmare that made her want to scream at the top of her lungs. It was the 80s and no one would have suspected the bright, hyperplexic child to be struggling at all as she masked her way through life. It was survival. It was a way to avoid attention from every prying, well-meaning adults, who tried to force her down the neurotypical well in hopes that some day...she would be a "real" girl.
