magisternihil's 100-word story for November 25, 2025

Tomen stops, draws a deep breath, looks up. Towering office complexes drag him into formicine perspective, his fellow pedestrians now trapped in their “Everything not forbidden is compulsory” lifestyles. He wonders, does this make him a drone, destined to do his duty until death? He shakes his head. No, this is no hill, it’s a maze, and its murine occupants all scurry, wander, sniff for their piece of cheese. What if there’s no way out? What if there is no prize, or it’s not the blissful Camembert but a rancid Limburger? Tomen sighs and begins walking again. Time for work.
