magisternihil's 100-word story for November 27, 2025
magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on November 27, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.
I don’t know how I got here, or where I am, but thank goodness I’ve found a road. But which way? Either choice could equally lead closer to or farther from civilization, and help, and a warm meal. I listen, hoping to hear any sound that tells me which way to go—distant horns blaring, sirens, even talking. But nothing. Until the hoof beats. I don’t know why, but I don’t want to meet these riders. I run, filled with fear, away from them, not knowing where the road leads, just as long as it’s away from that terrible sound.
