They weren’t supposed to be off the ground, Tom knew, but Debra wanted to see the sunset from high up, so he agreed to take her up, even thought it was late. She ooh’d and ahh’d like he hoped she would, gazing at the colors of the sky with rapt fascination. Every time he mentioned they should head down she begged for just a few minutes. Now it was too dark to see the ground and they were way off course. He decided to wait to see if they survived the landing before he decided whether it was worth it.
