JKWriter wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on November 29, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

Neither had flown a hot air balloon, so they were a little disconcerted when they realized they were hovering far above the south end of her father's property. Granted his estate was one of the largest in their community, but the fear of being forced back home ignited panic until the winds changed and the balloon started sailing back toward their original destination. From that distance they couldn't see much, but Marta knew where most of the properties security cameras were. "If they saw us, would they know it was us?" she wondered to herself. Fear makes people irrational sometimes.
