magisternihil's 100-word story for December 2, 2025
magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on December 2, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.
“Gramma, what does garrulous mean?” Essie asked knowing full well what the response would be. Her grandmother glanced up from her crossword, lips pursed in contemplation. Then, like a superhero, she pointed to the front room and shouted, “To the Good Book!” The dictionary always lay open, ready to come to the rescue at a moment’s notice. Essie flipped through the pages, remembering her ABCs, while her grandmother watched beaming with pride. “Excessively talkative, especially about unimportant things,” read her grandmother over her shoulder. Essie thought for a second. “Oh, like Uncle Jimmy.” Her grandmother laughed. “Exactly like Uncle Jimmy.”
