JKWriter wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on December 7, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

It was a cold day, but warm on the tram. It was oddly empty for that time of day but it was a welcome site for the introverted soul sitting by the window. Partway down the car, there was a lonely woman with an empty basket on wheels. Her purse was falling apart and her hair was pinched tightly in curlers under a pink, filmy scarf. Just a little further back was a man in a peacoat. A kitten would pop it's head from the pocket playfully batting at his owner's hands. Yes...it was oddly quiet but welcome, indeed.
