magisternihil's 100-word story for December 19, 2025

magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on December 19, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

“Wow, what a view!” “Right? That’s what I thought. What we thought. People need this, to gaze across the endlessness, to bask in infinity, and find focus in the possibilities.” “It did well for a while, didn’t it?” “Sure. Just like the first time. Lots of people lending their voices. Lots of chatter and creativity. But then people forget, or get busy, or lose interest.” “Others will come.” “I’m not sure they will. It’s just me now treading these boards, and how long until the pillars begin to rot. How long until it all falls away to nothingness?” “Pub?” “Pub.”
