Man overboard. Struggling, gasping for air, flailing. Can't swim and I know it would be so much easier to stop kicking and let the water come in. A minute of horror and then only the silence of the deep. But it's not in me. The engine's good but I'm hard to start. And my brakes are bad so I'm hard to stop. If I can just break the momentum, shake off this molasses, get a move on.... But inevitably I know that I'll take it too far, push it too hard, and it will all come apart again. Man. Overboard.
