magisternihil's 100-word story for December 22, 2025
magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on December 22, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.
It took him a week longer than it should have due to sudden snow storms, high winds, and a bout of, well, you shouldn’t always eat the dented cans of meat. But finally, he was where he needed to be. He didn’t know what he expected, maybe an old man with a long beard, impervious to the cold and sitting on a roughly carved stone chair. Everyone simply told him he would find the answer to life if he trekked to the top. He stood holding the stone with it’s irksome “inspirational message” and realized sometimes answers were just obvious.
