Archie saw the croft from a distance and his dread melted away. He would take shelter, maybe even get a fire going to drive away the cold. He groaned as he saw the door standing wide open. He would have to approach carefully. No telling what may have taken up residence since the last occupant was so careless. He found it empty, all the food gone, all of the wood burned. He would have words with some people in the near future, but for now, he needed heat. The chair had to go. It was going to be along night.
