magisternihil's 100-word story for January 4, 2026

magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on January 4, 2026. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

Every Monday morning I sat through Shy’s latest brag about Saturday’s adventures, and to be honest I always thought he was making it up. A rave in a glen that was only accessible by hot air balloon? A dance party inside a disused water tower? An after-hours silent disco in the closed library? None of this can be real, right? So I called him on it, said there was no way such outlandish events really existed. Now I’m following him through an active subway tunnel toward repetitive bass beats and cheering revelers, and I’m starting to think I was wrong.
