“What’s that?” asked Sim. He walked slowly around the twisted structure, trying to make his brain reconcile the shape to something he recognized. “Is this the end?” “Not even close,” spat Noc. She stood with her arms crossed, consternation etched on her features, her scar now a searing red. “What do you mean? I don’t see any other paths?” demanded Sim. “It’s all paths.” Sim looked around and saw the truth. Every step away from this point led somewhere new. “So, the center?” Noc shrugged. “One of them.” “Which way then?” asked Sim. Noc laughed. “It doesn’t matter. You choose.”
