magisternihil's 100-word story for January 28, 2026
magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on January 28, 2026. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.
“The city never sleeps.” That was what Norman had been counting on when he made the costume. Finally, he would be able to get out of the house and interact with people, even if that interaction was him thwarting their wicked crime. The city does sleep, however. It knocks out like a toddler exhausted by a tantrum-filled day with no apologies to whoever has to drag it to bed. Norman swished his cape back and forth, practicing the drama of it all while bitterly lamenting the unfairness. He can’t go out like this in the daytime. People might see him!
