magisternihil's 100-word story for February 8, 2026

Jeremiah pulled out his watch, appeared to do some mental calculations, then tucked it away while shaking his head. The trains ran on time so seldom he wondered why they bothered posting arrival times at all. He looked around at his fellow passengers, themselves not bothered by the time, and as usual wondered about their lives. What led them to join him on the train? Seven other passengers—banker, artist, pickpocket, gambler, adulterer and adulteress, and ah yes, assassin—and had the sneaking suspicion that this could be unlike the usual journey. No, this could be far more entertaining, indeed.
