magisternihil's 100-word story for February 22, 2026

We built Gummy to scare the crows away, of course. But the moment we left him alone in the field he climbed down from his post and curled up into a ball whimpering about all the scary little flappy things. We tried talking to him. “Gummy, all you’ve got to do is wave your arms and the birds will fly away!” But he wasn’t having it. We had unintentionally created an ornithophobic scarecrow. He still lives out there. If you call him, he’ll wave. But the birds? They pay him no attention and that’s just the way he likes it.
