“I don’t want to go through there.” “You haven’t been paying attention, then,” said Noc. She eyed the tunnel with the casual air of a person studying a sock to find the heel before slipping it on. “Of course I have,” spat Sim, “I notice everything.” “Oh yeah? How tall are you?” Sim stood up straight. “Six foot.” He waited for the challenge and none came. He relaxed a little. “I’d estimate you’re currently considerably smaller than that by five halvings. Good thing this is a doubler. Come on.” Sim didn’t even try to understand. At this point, why bother?
