“What do I do if I want one on the bottom?” Julianna asked. The old man shrugged. He shuffled off without another word and left her to browse. She was used to cluttered book shops, and had even been in some where she was in fear of a shelf falling over. But this one? One wrong move and the whole place could come down. After an hour of scanning spines, flipping through pages, and sneezing from book dust, she saw the one she wanted, pressed between the floor and a stack of thirty books. She copied his shrug and pulled.
