magisternihil's 100-word story for March 8, 2026

magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on March 8, 2026. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

Seven long days of climbing up and down a ladder, dealing with rail storms, curious onlookers, and that one guy who kept demanding I show him my permit, and I finished. When it was all said and done I was able to step back and gaze with pride at my creation knowing that I was going to be paid handsomely for the effort. They sent a photographer from the paper who snapped a ton of pictures for a special feature. He was an artist, too, he said. In the end, I guess the mural wasn’t as impressive as my brushes.
