She hears the music start to play, feels the pulse of the crowd-speak grow as it does when people realize they’re about to have to be silent for a period of time and need to get just a few more words in. Soon the lull will fade, the music will grow, and her name will be announced. Soon she will be on stage in front of all of them, reciting the lines, standing on the marks, bringing the words to life. Her makeup is done. No one will know who is blowing their mind except her. And she’s not telling.
