magisternihil's 100-word story for March 20, 2026

magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on March 20, 2026. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

One minute you’re a young man hoping to score some treasure and then suddenly you feel your whole body stiffen as you gaze into those glowing eyes and you stop. But you don’t die. You can’t. Well, eventually, when enough of you is broken off, your soul is released, but until then, for thousands of years you are stuck, waiting for release, unable to move, speak, warn anyone. The things I’ve seen would have curled my hair if it could be. I’ve lost both my arms and a foot. Be a pal and find a way to finish the job.
