magisternihil's 100-word story for March 30, 2026

magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on March 30, 2026. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

"No one has ever taken a good picture of me," said Jamie. Sybil scoffed. "Just because you don't like a picture doesn't mean it's not good, it just means you see yourself differently." Jamie shook his head. "You don't understand. It's like a curse. Any time a camera is pointed at me, something goes wrong." He pulled out his phone and showed her endless pictures of him oddly hidden behind some impediment: a bus, a pole, even once a bird. To prove him wrong, she took his phone and stepped back, snapping a shot. Just as the wind picked up.
