Harry took a deep breath, hoping things went better this time. The woman looked up from her book, her face lighting up when she saw him. “Stephanie?” he asked at the same time she hopefully said, “Gerald?” Both of them registered the mistake and the disappointment. Harry gave a smile. “Sorry, blind date.” The woman returned the smile. “Same here. No show, I’m afraid,” she sighed. “I’m Esther. Join me?” As they hit it off and experience their meet cute, spare a thought for Gerald and Stephanie who, each having gone to the correct cafe, are having their own version.
