joeislove's 100-word story for April 8, 2026
joeislove wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on April 8, 2026. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.
Prone, crammed into the nose cone of this flying relic, looking through the bombsight. A device so innovative that its secret was closely guarded. The man who used it trained to bring it, if nothing else, with him if they ever had to bail out. If this were a real bombing run, I would be steering the plane with my feet as I lined up on my target. The pilots have trust issues or something, because I can only look. So I look and fantasize about pulling the handle, opening the doors in the belly of this beast. Bombs away!
