magisternihil's 100-word story for April 11, 2026

magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on April 11, 2026. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

“You see all those rain drops hitting the water? You see how their ripples wash over one another?” Grandpa never passed on an opportunity to make something meaningful. “Yessir, I do,” Reggie said. He knew it was best to listen. “I’ve been on this planet for 97 years. Made lots of ripples.” He pointed at one of the larger circles washing over the others. Reggie pointed to a small one. “And that’s me I suppose?” Grandpa snorted. “Nah, buddy,” he said, and he tossed a large stone into the water, disrupting everything. “That’s you. Now make it count for something.”
