magisternihil's 100-word story for April 13, 2026

magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on April 13, 2026. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

“There’s a man on the porch that says he lives here now,” whispered Diedre. She was peeking out the blinds as though if she hid he would forget she was there. “Is he one of yours or one of mine?” asked Spence. He didn’t even look up from his book. “Neither! I don’t know. He’s a stranger.” Spence closed his book and stood, brushing bagel crumbs from his lap. “No one is a stranger here, Diedre. You know that.” He walked onto the porch. “Good morning, sir. What do they call you?” “Edgar,” said the old man. “Welcome home, Edgar.”
