JKWriter's 100-word story for April 14, 2026

JKWriter wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on April 14, 2026. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

There was nothing significant about this place. It could have been anywhere, but here's where he stood and here's where he would stay. Was he making the right decisions? He wouldn't know until the moment his eyes fell upon them somewhere in the rearview mirror many miles away. If they were the right ones, they'd seem small and remain uncertain...but if they were in the wrong ones they'd be glaringly clear. If only he'd been born with better common sense...maybe this was as good as anyone else had. Maybe he just wasn't lucky enough. He didn't really know.
