JKWriter's 100-word story for April 22, 2026

JKWriter wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on April 22, 2026. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

The children spent the morning in the garden digging up potatoes. The smell of the damp soil in their nostrils in the warmth of the sun that had just begun to break through the clouds only motivated them to go faster. Their grandmother stood at the back porch watching them filling the bins with spud after spud. She hadn't even ask them to. They had leapt at the task after the old woman had told them that she wanted to dig a few of them up to have with supper. Her homemade potato salad and barbeque chicken were their favorites.
