UncreativeNovice's 100-word story for April 24, 2026

UncreativeNovice wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on April 24, 2026. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

My vision is blurry and it's hard to breathe, but I have to keep the panic from setting in. I have no idea where I am or how I even got here. I need to quickly assess my surroundings and figure out what my role is in this. Is this a test to see what my abilities are or did I just wind up in the wrong place at the wrong time? It's eerily quiet; that usually implies everything is in hiding and waiting for the chaos. I need food and water. I must be alert. I must be ready.
