The way he held her when they hugged made her feel a calm she hadn't known before. This connection was genuine presence without agenda or strings attached. She knew it was safe to trust him. This organic connection was foreign in a way that set off her default to anxious distrust. This felt different because she knew SHE was different. Self reflection means nothing without action. She would keep the promises she made to herself. She would ask the questions once hidden under layers of a fear of rejection and self doubt. His hugs would teach her how to heal.
