Noc shouted something back at him, but to no avail, the rush of the river was ear-splitting. Sim stood at the halfway point on the bridge that he assured her would hardly support one of them, much less two, and he could feel it creaking under their combined weight. Terrified, he looked down into the water and was startled to see himself standing on a snowy street, pointing up at himself, and then his other self was urged along. On the bridge, Noc grabbed his shirt and pulled. “If you stop, it all falls apart. Move!” Utterly confused, he followed.
