Sometimes I get so tired the world feels black and white. Afternoon coffee on a cloudy day. Overhead lights buzzing in the dimly lit café. I am waiting for someone who will wake me up. Two coffee cups clinking on the red wood. Delicate flower petals in a glass vase. She scrapes her chair across the floor and sits down. A nervous smile across the table. "What are you two ordering today?" "Breakfast for lunch." "Breakfast for lunch," I repeat. The smell of fake maple syrup fills the air as we eat together. I wonder how we will get along.
