The corner invoked feelings of being feet from the surf and the sun-shiny frivolity he remembered from his youth. He moved to sit but then the cracks in the facade started to show: the writing on the chalk board didn’t properly repeat, the drips of paint below the board were still wet and actively dripping, and the lightbulb was an avocado? The ocean he had been enjoying revealed itself to be applause as he turned and saw the audience waiting on his opening line which he quickly realized had long since fled his memory. “Not again,” he moaned, “Wake up!”
