“When you were younger, did you ever see these and just desperately want to give it a pull?” Caleb’s hand was already rising, his eyes filled with a mischief Tom recognized. Tom thought back to that day in his youth, when he, Millie, and Tyson all stood around the alarm daring each other to pull it. He remembered getting irked no one would and pulling the switch down. Then there was so much running. “Go ahead,” he told Caleb. Tom pulled it and frowned when nothing happened. Tom knew nothing would in this derelict building, but still he was running.
