magisternihil's 100-word story for May 17, 2026
magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on May 17, 2026. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.
Time was, my kind roamed the earth, feasting on any beast that had the misfortune of being slower than our mighty jaws. I remember it in dreams—the thrill of the chase, the ecstasy of bringing prey to the earth, necks in my jaw, the taste of blood. I wake from these dreams feeling mighty and unstoppable. And then I’m greeted with the undignified, “Does Mr. Widdlebum need to go have piddles?” The indignity! Every time they pick up my excrement I remember that I am still in control, still the master of my domain, and that they serve me.
