Hide's 100-word story for April 15, 2025
Hide wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on April 15, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.
The dark silhouette of a man slouched up the stairs, silhouettely. I made sure my lamp lit my face in a noir way, as the knob turned. Just as I suspected. A man looking for trouble. He slid in and sat without waiting for an invitation. I suppose that’s because he’s my partner. In training. “Any luck on that case?” I ask, pretending like we have more than one going. “Why are you pretending we have cases?” “For the person reading this, of course.” He looks confused. Not me, though. For me, this is just another day as a detective.
