The siren broke the silence, causing both Johns and Parker to rocket out of their beds and into their boots. Parker threw a pillow at Miller. The lousy slob could sleep through anything. “4744, the Walterbury Neighborhood,” said Johns as he clipped on his vest. Miller sat up and looked around groggily. “What time is it?” The other two exchanged an exasperated glance. Newbies. “Our watcher in Walterbury has pulled the alarm. There’s no time here. You know that. The time there should be around 3:27am. Now get your vest on, we have a fugitive to catch,” spat Johns.
