Some complained, saying what he did broke up the picturesque landscape and made a joke out of their windmills, but after a month, they couldn’t deny the genius of it. Tourists gathered to photograph “Duck Mill” and naturally, their curiosity led them to the little shop Coen ran out of the front room were they bought little replicas he and Johanna created when they weren’t grinding. He had a vision of buying up his neighbors and adding more birds. Best not to rush things, though. Time turned like the sails on his mill, slowly and purposefully, and so would he.
