magisternihil's 100-word story for June 1, 2026
magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on June 1, 2026. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.
“I think we’re lost,” said Sim. He held the torch aloft and found he really didn’t enjoy how dark the area above remained. “I’m never lost,” answered Noc. She traced her fingers along the stones in the wall as if reading. Sim held the torch higher, decided that did nothing to reassure him there weren’t things up there, and stalked back over to her. “We’re never getting out of here, are we?” Noc allowed a smile to her face. “Finally, he says something that makes sense.” She pushed a stone and the smile grew as a door slowly slid open.
