joeislove's 100-word story for June 7, 2026

Relics of a bygone era. Just like me. They are no longer useful to anyone, because when was the last time you saw an 8-track player anywhere? I guess I keep them around for sentimental reasons. They remind me of my misspent youth, driving all night in that 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix with 7 other teenagers crammed into the seats. Nowhere to go, nothing to do, nothing to lose. The boxy kerchunk as the cartridge slotted into place. The clickety clank as the tracks flipped. The open road. The cool night air. In those moments, we were gods and goddesses.
