magisternihil's 100-word story for June 9, 2026
magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on June 9, 2026. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.
Like fragments of Ozymandias’s statue in the desert sands, most reminders of a tyrant’s reign end up being only breadcrumbs after a few centuries, barely a trail leading to anything. But the way they dealt with S_____ K_____, by not only erasing him from history but also taking extra steps to enforce that erasure, well that left the sands of time envious. Tell a falsehood enough, and they’ll start to believe it. They’ll forget how K_____ ruled with an iron fist, how all lived in fear, until he was taken down by the whole city. Until nothing happened at all.
