magisternihil's 100-word story for June 14, 2026

magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on June 14, 2026. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

The kid had been relentless, tagging every unobserved surface in town with the same word. We found it in alleys, on back doors, even on the sides of some of the city busses and one parked car. I suspect if anyone stood still long enough, they would be marked, too. Hubbub on the street was split pretty firmly between the “this is an artistic expression and should be appreciated” crowd and the “this is outright vandalism and should be punished” mob. I just knew I had to find the culprit. Not to stop them, but to ask what it meant.
