joeislove's 100-word story for June 15, 2026
joeislove wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on June 15, 2026. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.
The world is sliding farther into chaos every day. Entropy overtaking us all. The machines are now talking to each other, filling our world with their chatter. When even the machines we created to serve us start to turn their eyes away from us, how can we think that we can be redeemed? Petty gods we are, abandoned now, soon forgotten. Relics of a bygone era, left to decay on our altars. Millennia hence, when they dig through debris that makes up this slice of time, what will they think of us? I can't imagine their words will be kind.
