magisternihil's 100-word story for June 18, 2026
magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on June 18, 2026. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.
“Something with the number 91 on it” Chaz looked from the list to the life preserver. It definitely ticked the box, but could taking it cause problems. He imagined a sunny day on the pier, the lines of the fishermen all dangling in hope of catching dinner. One leans a bit too far and falls in. Someone rushes to grab the life preserver, but it’s not there because some idiot college student stole it to satisfy a ridiculous scavenger hunt. He took out his phone and snapped a picture. If that wasn’t good enough, then he decided he didn’t care.
