There was a time when all a fella in a fancy autocar had to do when he had a problem was shout "Assistance! Assistance if you will!" and any free child in the neighborhood was obligated to stop their silly games and rush in to help. I mean, you had to give them a penny for their efforts, but in the long run, having twelve children push your car down the road so you didn't have to was worth a good shilling. The kids caught on, though, and their efforts to drum up business sometimes went a little too far.
