Geuszey's 100-word story for April 16, 2025

Geuszey wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on April 16, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

Tick. Tock. The clock was strange. For one, it ran backwards. For another, it had no battery, and to this day, I have found no way to wind it up. Yet it ran perfectly, if inverted, on time. It never dropped so much as a second. But these oddities were minor and far less creepy than the face. Each morning at precisely midnight, the clock looked pristine. Throughout the day, the clock aged and gathered a patina of years of rough use. But the creepiest part is what happened right before midnight, when the crystal filled inexorably with crimson blood.
