When I still toddled before memory was solid my family took a trip a grand outing to see some spectacle a monument or relic a big day out From the moment we arrived we found ourselves in a cavalcade of pedestrians a long line of eager spectators queueing for the right to see the thing we all came to see We shuffled foot to foot side to side pinned in on either side by metal fencing and I pictured us cattle on the way to slaughter mooing in conversation no option but to move forward cluelessly toward the big show
